About Nils Landgren
Myspace Layouts >> >>Friends and Funkateers, It is almost Christmas, even in Sweden! And, The Funk Unit is still alive and kickin.. like never before! Me,Magnum,Magnus,Jonas,Robert,Andy,Sebastian and Wolfgang made it! We managed to get the record finished for release in January 2010!
The "Funk for Life"-Album will be out in Sweden on January 20, Germany January 21and the rest of the world will follow. US-release in March 2010 as well as Canada. We will be on tour from March 27, opening at The St Ingbert Jazzfestival, ending probably in Shanghai end of october 2010. The idea with this album is to give children a chance to find a better life through music, the universal language of the world.
We started recording the album in Berlin in June 2009 and finished it in Kibera Nairobi end of september. With the help of MSF-Doctors without borders we reached our first goal which was to get a glimpse of the work of MSF and to meet with young people and make music together. What a joy it was! We brought instruments for the kids to keep, some from us and the rest thanks to YAMAHA Sweden.
It is a real band-project where everybody contributed with all their skills and wills and we have shared everything, from rooms in Kibera to writing the material together and sharing all rights etc.We really believe in this project and it is a fact that once you..ve started doing things like this, the is no way to stop!

This is an unusual smooth-jazz album devoted to the moon and stars from Swedish jazz trombonist Nils Landgren. One of the 1970s' most successful hard rock bands in spite of critical pans and somewhat reluctant radio airplay (at first), Grand Funk Railroad built a devoted fan base with constant touring, a loud, simple take on the blues-rock power trio sound, and strong working-class appeal. While radio shied away from Grand Funk Railroad, the group's strong work ethic and commitment to touring produced a series of big-selling albums over the next few years; five of their nine releases from 1969 to 1974 went platinum, and the others all went gold.
